Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted commuters, including a 24-year-old daughter of a newspaper vendor, while traveling in a commercial bus along the Jesse-Oben road in Delta.
It was gathered that the tragedy happened near Oben, a border town between Edo and Delta states.
The kidnappers, who reportedly fired gunshots into the air to scare their captives, spared the driver and conductor of the bus but whisked away the passengers into the nearby forest.
This development has left relatives of the newspaper vendor in fear and sorrow.
This is even as the kidnappers were said to have reached out to him demanding a staggering ransom of N10 million for his daughter’s safe return.
The distraught man is said to have specifically appealed to the Governor of Delta State, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and the security agencies for assistance in freeing his abducted daughter.
