Unknown Gunmen on Sunday killed 2 personnel of the Federal Road Safety Service, FRSC along Uga road in Anambra, POLITICS NIGERIA has learned.
The Gunmen stormed the area shooting sporadically and warning that no one must violate the Monday sit-at-home exercise put in place by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
Speaking on the matter, Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO) Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Bisi Kazeem said that the team comprising of an Officer, a driver and two other staff on patrol operations were attacked by the gunmen at about 2:45 pm along Igbo-Uku- Uga route.
Two Corps personnel were killed with one escaping into the bush and the team leader rushed to the hospital after sustaining severe injuries from the attack.
Kazeem quoted the Corps Marshal, (FRSC), Dr Boboye Oyeyemi as decrying the attack and condole with the families of the deceased staff, the Unit Commander and Staff of Igbo-Uku Command.
The shooting is believed to be a subtle warning to the state governor, Charles Soludo, who had earlier rubbished the exercise.
Soludo had warned civil servants to disregard the sit-at-home and resume work every Monday as required or risk being fired. This newspaper also learnt that the gunmen burned down the Orsu LGA secretariat in Imo state hours before the attack in Anambra.
The state government is yet to react to the development as at the time of filing this report.
