Two policemen and a security officer were killed by unknown gunmen in Akabo village, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State early Tuesday morning.
The attack occurred around 6 a.m., according to the Imo State Police Command spokesperson, SP Henry Okoye.
SP Okoye confirmed the incident, stating that the officers were ambushed and killed by the assailants.
The attack has further heightened concerns about the security situation in the southeast state.
The Imo State Police Command said it has launched an investigation into the incident and is working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
SP Okoye assured the public that efforts are being intensified to ensure the culprits are brought to justice and to prevent future occurrences of such violent attacks.
Government is not doing well in protecting the police, they are always risking them if the government had listened well to voice of agitators, absolutely alk these killings here and there would n’t have been in this way.Instead of givt using dialogue to address the matter they only resorted in using force and this heightened the level of insecurity in the nation.
