Mr Yahaya Muhammad, President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, NWF, has died.
His demise was announced by Auwal Sankara, Media aide to the Governor of Jigawa State, Muhammad Badaru. The late Yahaya was also a special assistant to Badaru.
“The Jigawa State Government regrets to announce the Passage of Hon. Yahaya Muhammed (Big Man), who died this afternoon at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital after a protracted illness,” Sankara said.
The deceased was elected at different times as a member representing Sule Tankarkar Constituency at the Jigawa State House of Assembly. The Nigeria Weightlifting Federation is the major governing body of the sport in Nigeria.
