A High Court sitting in Jos has told a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Obadiah Mailafia that he can’t stop the Nigeria Police Force from investigating him.
The court made this known after it dismissed his application filed in order to stop the Police from inviting over a radio interview that a northern governor is the leader of the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Department of State Security (DSS) had on three occasions invited the former Presidential candidate over a claim he made in the radio interview.
Mailafia filed the application before the court after the police invited him to its Abuja headquarters following the interview he granted. He told the court to stop the Police from investigating him in a matter which is also being investigated by the DSS.
Ruling on the application on Tuesday, Justice Arum Ashom dismissed the application for lacking in merit. The judge noted that the Police also have the right to investigate Mailafia even though the DSS is doing the same.
