Zambia’s former President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda has passed on.
This is after he was admitted to the Maina Soko Military Hospital earlier this week where he was being treated for Pneumonia.
He was the first president of Zambia and ruled for 27 years. Kaunda was born on 28 April 1924 at a mission station near the border between what was then Northern Rhodesia and the Congo.
A modernising force in Africa, he is remembered for building a new Zambia, free to determine its own way in international affairs.
