Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina has stated that late President Muhammadu Buhari lived and died in service to the people.
Governor Radda made the comment on Wednesday at the Daura residence of the former president after a prayer session held in his honour.
He said Buhari’s death was a profound loss not just for Katsina, but for Nigeria and the African continent.
“Buhari lived and died for the people,” the governor said.
He called on leaders at all levels to uphold Buhari’s legacy by promoting transparency, honesty, and accountability in governance.
Radda also thanked President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima for honouring Buhari and the people of Katsina with their presence at the burial.
“We are grateful to the president and vice-president for standing by the people of Katsina at this time,” he said.
Earlier, Shettima said Buhari’s passing had deeply pained President Tinubu, describing it as a loss beyond borders.
“The president was personally pained by the loss. He sent me to London to visit the late president and later directed me and the chief of staff to accompany the family and body back home,” Shettima said.
