Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state says President Muhammadu Buhari lavished over $19 billion on Nigeria’s refineries without any meaningful impact.
The Governor revealed that the amount wasted on fixing Nigeria’s refinery was used to build the Dangote Refinery in Lagos.
Politics Nigeria understands that the three refineries owned by the federal government are situated in Port Harcourt, River State; Warri, Delta State; and Kaduna but none of them is working at the moment.
Speaking on ChannelsTv flagship morning programme, Sunrise Daily, Governor Sule lamented that the huge funds disbursed did not yield the expected result.
The Governor also maintained that the Dangote refinery is one and a half times the size of Nigeria’s three refineries and berated the government for not doing a good job.
Sule further added that while Nigeria’s three refineries (if functional) have a total of 450,000 barrels per day, Dangote’s facility boasts 650,000 barrels.
He blamed the Buhari’s government for not setting its priorities right adding that his administration should have focused more on making one refinery work instead of attempting to fix all three at the same time.
