Garba Shehu, a former presidential spokesperson has said that his principal, the ex-president Muhammadu Buhari was in full control of his administration.
Shehu while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today said claims that a cabal was in control of Buhari and affairs of the nation when he was in power were “sheer nonsense”.
He said the former president had the final say on decisions concerning governance activities in the nation.
”This thing about cabals is sheer nonsense, let me tell you, Buhari is a military general, even when he becomes a converted democrat.
”I can tell you that I know not one person who can give you 100% assurance that I tell Buhari ABC is black, he will say ABC is black.No, he had his own mind.
”You could have people around you and have people advise you, but the box stopped on his table,” Shehu said.
The former presidential aide further stated that Buhari was the “most aware president this country has had”.
Shehu added that the former president was not a dictator as several people thought.
He said, “Buhari was not meddlesome, he never pretended like he owned Nigeria. He wasn’t a dictator.”
