Buhari’s aide reacts to NNPP crisis, Kwankwaso’s suspension

One of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s aides, Bashir Ahmad, has reacted to the recent crisis in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Politics Nigeria recalls that the party’s presidential candidate in the last general election, Rabiu Kwankwaso was suspended by the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the NNPP over alleged anti-party activity.

However, in a twist of event, the Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso-led faction expelled the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party, Boniface Aniebonam, and some members.

The NNPP stated that Aniebonam’s expulsion from the party was with immediate effect and accused the BoT Chairman, the National Publicity Secretary, Agbo Major, and others of anti-party activities.

Aniebonam was accused of creating a parallel group within the party to cause disaffection in the NNPP.

A chieftain of the NNPP, Ladipo Johnson said the meeting held by Aniebonam where the suspension of Kwankwaso was announced was illegal, null, and void.

Reacting to the crisis in the party, Ahmad who is an All Progressives Congress (APC) member wrote on X formerly known as Twitter that:

“Another twist in the NNPP saga as a faction of the party, loyal to Sen. Kwankwaso, expelled members who organized the earlier Board of Trustees meeting in Lagos. Kwankwaso is back as the tensions continue to rise within the opposition party.”
