Buhari’s Minister justifies Coronavirus Outbreak, says it is from God

Minister of State for Labour and employment, Festus Keyamo, has said coronavirus pandemic was allowed by God for man to redirect his steps.

The infection also known as Covid-19, has been ravaging countries of the world after its discovery in China in January.

As of Thursday morning, 51 Nigerians have contracted the virus.

The breakdown of cases by states shows that Lagos State has the highest number of confirmed cases in the country with 32 cases, followed by Abuja with 10 cases, Ogun State three, and Ekiti, Oyo Edo, Bauchi, Osun, and Rivers have one case each.

Those affected include; the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, and the son of former vice president Atiku Abubakar.

However, Keyamo, who was formerly the minister of state for Niger Delta Affairs, stated this on Wednesday night on his verified Twitter handle.

“God has allowed COVID-19 to afflict the human race only to redirect our steps back to Him. We have so distorted God’s Word to suit our own human weaknesses and satisfy our greed, even in supposed Holy Places. We should collectively ask for forgiveness & it will all end in praise,” He wrote on Twitter.

The official however advised that Nigerians including religious leaders to ensure that all preventive measures are followed to the letter.

“Aside from the spiritual angle to this scourge, we must all work and pray; God can only help those who help themselves. Those our recalcitrant Pastors must realise this. All the directives of @NCDCgov must be followed to the letter by all and sundry before it can quickly end in praise.”
