The immediate past secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha, who served under former president Muhammadu Buhari has received his successor, George Akume.
Boss handed over the SGF baton to Akume, who was recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu on June 2, 2023.
Politics Nigeria had reported that Akume was announced as the new SGF and Femi Gbajabiamila, the outgoing speaker of the House of Representatives, as chief of staff to the president on same day.
On Wednesday, Akume took the oath of office at the council chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja in the presence of President Tinubu.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima; Senate President Ahmed Lawan; governor of Kwara state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the head of the civil service of the federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, were other dignitaries present at the brief ceremony.
Shortly after, Mustapha handed over to Akume, the immediate past minister of special duties and former Benue State governor.
Abubakar Bagudu and Badaru Abubakar, former governors of Kebbi and Jigawa state witnessed the handing over.
