A building collapse at the Borno state internally displaced persons camp has resulted in the loss of at least six lives.
Sources said the classroom sheltering several IDPs in the town of Monguno caved in around 7pm on Monday following torrential rains the previous day.
Four out of the six victims died on the spot while the two others passed on at the hospital.
”Four of the victims died on the spot, five others wounded were rushed to hospital where two of them later died,” an eyewitness said.
When contacted, the director of Borno State Emergency Management Agency (BOSEMA), Comrade Abdullahi Suleiman, said report of the incident is yet to reach the agency.
