The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has denied reports that he purchased 3 ‘aircrafts’ for his rumoured 2023 Presidential Campaign.
A report had gone viral on Wednesday that Emefiele bought 3 airplanes for his presidential campaign and had been asked to resign from his position as governor.
The CBN governor, who opened a Twitter account on Wednesday, denied the claim. He described the report as ‘Fake News’.
The development is coming a few days after the CBN governor addressed calls for him to contest. Speaking to a group known as ‘Friends of Godwin Emefiele’, he disclosed that his fate was in ‘God’s hands’.
“Mr. Emefiele told us that he believes it’s the prerogative of President Muhammadu Buhari to plan his succession in line with global best practices for good governance for the continuing peace and progress of the federal republic of Nigeria. As such, he will play his part to stabilise the economy for an orderly transition,”
“And given that it’s God that anoints leaders, he will leave his faith (sic) firmly in the hands of God.”, the group revealed in a statement made available to the press.
Can you imagine European colonizers doing so much damage to the country as the local politicians are doing? The political situation in Nigeria is like a scene from a wild west cowboy film.
