Chiroma-Mashio Emerges Speaker of Yobe 8th Assembly Unopposed

A member representing Jajere Constituency, Buba Chiroma-Mashio, has unanimously been elected as the Speaker of the 8th Yobe State House of Assembly.

This followed his nomination at a sitting at the legislative chambers today in Damaturu.

The motion for his first nomination was first moved by Hon. Adamu Dala Dogo, representing Karasuwa constituency and seconded by Hon. Bukar Mustapha of Geidam central constituency and accepted by all the 24 legislatures, respectively.

Chiroma-Mashio was the former Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation in the 7th Assembly.

Meanwhile, Ya’u Usman-Dachia from the Jakusko constituency was elected Deputy Speaker, while Nasiru Hassan-Yusuf from the Damaturu I constituency was elected House Leader.

To assist Hassan as the Deputy House Leader, Hassan Muhammad-Yusufari, while the former Deputy Speaker in the Seventh Assembly, Muhammad Auwal-Bello, was elected Chief Whip, and Ahmed Musa-Dumbol was elected Deputy Chief Whip.

All the principal officers were elected unopposed by the members.
