AbdulHakeem Amofe Oladogba, an Islamic cleric popularly known as ‘Alfa Yoruba Nation’ has advised separatists to desist from “falsely labelling” a former Chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government, Tunji Omolewu, popularly known as Janbele.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that a rumour started circulating in October alleging that Jabele gave the Nigerian government tip on how to capture Igboho. Recall that Igboho’s residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, was raided by the Department of State Service (DSS) in July 1. The bloody raid led to the death of two of Igboho’s loyalists and the arrest of several others — although they have now been released.
Many Yoruba Nation agitators call Jabele “the enemy within”.
But Jabele, last week debunked the allegations against him in its entirety, invoking hefty curses. Now, a cleric who is pro-Yoruba Nation has sent a warning message to his fellow agitators. In a recent Live video on his Facebook page titled, ‘Jabele is not an enemy’, Oladogba counseled ardent secessionists to “stop alleging people”.
“Don’t turn Sunday Igboho’s countless loyalists to his enemy. The way many are going about this struggle, they are about making friends enemy, and vice-versa,” Oladogba said in his native Yoruba language.
He added: “I am warning you. We cannot do more than we are doing when it comes to Yoruba Nation self-determination.”
Igboho is presently in Benin Republic, where he is held up after being arrested by that country’s security forces while enroute to Germany in July.
