With the wave of the opposition coalition and defections hitting political parties across Nigeria, the former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami on Thursday met with ex-minister of communications, Ali Pantami.
Malami met with Pantami in Abuja hours after the former dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) which serves as the coalition party ahead of the 2027 elections.
It was gathered that Malami visited Pantami at his office in Abuja.
Recall that Malami in a statement issued on Wednesday announced that he was leaving the APC, the party under which he and Pantami served as Ministers between 2015 and 2023.
While the purpose of the duo’s meeting is not yet clear, Politics Nigeria understands that it is not unconnected to the opposition coalition plan aimed at ousting President Bola Tinubu from power.
The coalition championed by a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and an ex-governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai adopted the African Democratic Party (ADC) as its official party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Other key members of the coalition include the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi; former governor of Jigawa and Imo States, Sule Lamido and Emeka Ihedioha; ex-lawmaker Dino Melaye among several others.
