The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, on Tuesday decorated the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele, with the rank of colonel.
Shaibu was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Bamidele Alabi, which was held at the Army headquarters in Abuja,
He commended Anele’s professionalism and dedication, saying her promotion reflected the army’s appreciation of hard work and excellence.
The army chief alos urged the Directorate of Army Public Relations to deepen transparent, accountable, and timely communication that strengthens public confidence.
Shaibu added that effective strategic communication remained critical to national confidence in the armed forces.
He further charged the newly promoted colonel to uphold discipline, loyalty, and mentor younger officers to enhance the directorate’s capacity.
In her remarks, Anele thanked God and the leadership of the Armed Forces, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, and the COAS, for what she described as visionary guidance shaping her career.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers, former directors of Army Public Relations, family members, and well-wishers.
