Confusion as bandits hit Kaduna village, abduct women

No fewer than 12 persons, including 10 women were abducted when bandits attacked Kerawa village in Giwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State, northwest Nigeria, on Friday.

POLITICS NIGERIA learnt that the bandits operated unchallenged.

As of the time of publishing this report, there is no official reaction from the state government and Police.

Kidnapping today, is a major problem in Nigeria. The crime, mainly by bandits and insurgents, is among the biggest organised or gang crime in the West African nation and is a national security concern.

In November, the Federal High Court in Abuja declared the activities of bandits’ groups as acts of terrorism.

The verdict strengthens the call on the federal government to declare bandits ravaging the North-western and the North-central regions as terrorists.
