The Nigerian Presidency has responded to a statement attributed to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Ebun Adegboruwa, that President Buhari has no right to restrict movement in the country without recourse to the National Assembly.
Presidential media aide, Lauretta Onochie, in a series of tweets on Monday morning argued that Mr Buhari has the right to order the restriction of movement due to the prevailing circumstances. She wrote;
“Yes, He Can! Serial Wailers, led by a failed undistinguished Senator and surprisingly, a Lawyer who is also a SAN, are leading a bunch of ignorant uneducated Wailers and Biafrauds to say that the father of the nation, President Muhammadu Buhari has no right to shut down a section of this nation.”
“Oh Yes he has! He can actually shut down the whole nation using the same old laws Mallam Elrufai used to shut down Kaduna State. Yes, He Can!”
“See, my grandmother taught me to ask questions. Many people always have mud on their faces because they were raised not to ask questions. It’s not too late to start.”
“See, I was eager for the nation to be shut down so we all can escape the scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic. I didn’t know if our laws supported it. So I asked and I got these from Dr. Omano Edigheji, a member of Gov. Elrufai’s Team.”
“Yesterday, a diligent Attorney, Kayode Ajulo did a piece, a short piece in support of the laws ignorant and lazy people never knew still exists. They are old laws @Dino Melaye neglected to bring up to date before the White Lion ate him up!”
“All state Governors have the rights to shut down their states. President Buhari has all the rights to shut down every inch of this nation.”
“Don’t let them mislead you. Together, we can beat this monster.”
