Officers of the Nigerian police, on Sunday Morning, stormed the premises of Apostolic Church Branch in Sagamu, Ogun State, disrupting the service over a ban on Social gatherings.
POLITICS NIGERIA gathered that the state government had issued a ban on social gatherings of more than 50 people over the recent coronavirus(COVID-19) Pandemic that is gradually sweeping through the country.
According to footage shared by one Emmanuel Ojo, the senior special assistant on new media to the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, the police officers interrogated the head pastor of the church for allegedly defying the ban.
It will be recalled that the Apostolic Church of Nigeria issued a statement on the 19th of March 2020, ordering all the branches of the church nationwide to comply with the ban.
The statement signed by the Administrative Secretary of the Lagos and Western/Northern Areas(LAWNA) body of the church, Pastor Dr G.O. Olafimihan ordered that all church Sunday services should be serialized depending on the number of Congregants i.e if the congregants are 200 in number, 4 services will be held.
The Statement finalized that the order will be in place for a few weeks based on the position of the government.
