Coronavirus: Shehu Sani blasts Dino Melaye, others over ‘fictional narrative’

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has condemned some religious and political leaders in Nigeria over their fictional narratives about Coronavirus pandemic.

Mr Sani made his reservation against these persons known on Friday via his official Twitter account.

Nigeria currently has 1,932 cases with the breakdown as follows: Lagos – 976 cases, Kano – 219, FCT – 178, Borno – 66, Gombe – 76, Ogun – 56, Osun – 34, Katsina – 40, Edo – 44, Bauchi – 38, Oyo – 23, Sokoto – 36.

Kaduna – 35, Akwa Ibom – 16, Rivers – 13, Kwara – 11, Ondo – 9, Ekiti, and Taraba – 8, Delta – 9, Enugu – 3, Jigawa – 7, Niger – 2, Ebonyi – 2, Adamawa – 2, Kebbi–2, Bayelsa – 3, Nasarawa – 3, Abia – 2, and Zamfara – 4., while Benue, Anambra, Plateau, Yobe and Imo have one case each.

Before now, Dino Melaye, also a former Senator linked the outbreak of Coronavirus with the new 5G network development. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome also did the same.

Many political and religious leaders aside the two listed above have also made ridiculous claims about the Coronavirus pandemic.

In his tweet on Friday, Mr Sani said: “When religious and political leaders in a given society preach or promote fictional narratives, myths, superstitions and weird conspiracy theories on matters of health, their gullible poor followers pay the tragic price for any outbreak of infectious or contagious disease.”
