Councillors in Edo State have moved against Acting Chairmen in the 18 local government areas.
The action began on Monday, barely a day after 59 councillors received their Certificates of Return from the state electoral body.
Sources in the Edo APC disclosed that the move is to ensure control of the councils goes to party loyalists, not defectors from the PDP.
In Uhunmwonde, eight councillors voted out Hon. Iradia Benjamin. In Esan West, Hon. Aigboboh stepped down before impeachment proceedings could begin.
This wave of impeachment is expected to spread to other councils in the coming days.
