1. Tinubu loses ‘trusted’ aide

Former Governor of Lagos, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lost his Chief Security Officer, Lati Raheem. Raheem lost his life after a long battle with high blood pressure and Diabetes. According to insider information, the late CSO too very ill recently and was hospitalized. He died early Friday morning.

2. “How Abba Kyari helped return $300 million Abacha Loot to Nigeria” – Presidency

The United States government has described the late Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari as a dedicated public servant and respected interlocutor for the American government. In a condolence message to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Tibor Nagy, eulogized the important role played by Kyari in the repatriation of over $300 million in funds stolen by former head of state, Sani Abacha.

Mamman Daura, a nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari, has mourned the death of Abba Kyari, the late Chief of Staff to the President. In a tribute to Kyari made available to POLITICS NIGERIA on Friday, Daura described the late Kyari as a man of uncommon attributes of diligence, hard work, intelligence, and loyalty to friends.

4. Governor Akeredolu sacks Aide for neglect of duty

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has terminated the appointment of his Special Assistant on Youths and Students’ Affairs, Banji Adewumi. Mr Adewumi, who was appointed in 2017, was sacked for neglect of duties and responsibilities.

5. Ramadan: Atiku tells Muslims what to do amidst Coronavirus Lockdown

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged all Muslim faithful to pray for the country as the Ramadan fast begins today. In a series of tweets via his Twitter page on Friday, the former PDP presidential candidate also asked Muslims to adjust to the new reality as the Coronavirus pandemic continues to paralyse every aspect of the economy.

6. COVID-19: PDP reacts to Buhari’s ECOWAS appointment

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the appointment of President Muhammadu Buhari as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) COVID-19 Response Champion. The opposition party, however, said President Buhari should see the appointment as a wake-up call to make himself more visible and personally involved in the fight against the pandemic. This was contained in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan.

7. Oyetola appoints Shittu, Tinubu as heads of Amotekun, BOSS

The Governor of Osun state, Gboyega Oyetola has appointed news heads of Yoruba Security outfit, Amotekun and the Bureau of Social Services, BOSS. In a statement on Friday evening made available to POLITICS NIGERIA, Comrade, Amitolu Shittu, a human rights activist will head the newly establish Amotekun Corps, while Mr Richard Tinubu has been selected to head the Bureau of Social Services.

8. Why NJC Suspended Two Top Judges

Acting President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Francis Chukwuma Abosi, has been suspended by the National Judicial Council (NJC). In a statement sent to POLITICS NIGERIA on Friday by Soji Oye, the Director of Information of the council, Aliyu Musa Liman, a judge of Bauchi State High Court, has also been suspended by the council.

9. Sanwo-Olu speaks on discharge of 10 more COVID-19 patients

en more Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients have been discharged from the Lagos isolation centers after recovering from the dreaded virus. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State made this known in a series of tweets via his Twitter page on Friday. According to Sanwo-Olu, 3 females, and 7 males including 3 foreigners have been discharged.

10. Buhari Siriddawa is Dead

The Sarkin Malaman of Sokoto state, Sheik Buhari Siriddawa has passed away. The elderly monarch died earlier today. His demise was announced on Friday evening by one of his sons, Muhammad Buhari Siriddawa.
