Cracks in Tinubu’s camp as Adamu Garba disagrees with El Rufai, Ganduje

Adamu Garba, a top member of the Bola Tinubu/Kashim Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council, on Friday said he disagrees with governors of Kaduna and Kano states, Nasir El Rufai and Abdullahi Ganduje respectively, over the Naira redesign policy.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Garba, it is high time the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Tinubu’s loyalists accepted the Naira design policy and pay more attention to the electioneering as the 2023 general election comes up in eight days time.

The former presidential aspirant urged members of the APC and party chieftains to “do everything possible not to jeopardize our assured victory in the coming days”.

Recall that Governor El Rufai had during a state-wide broadcast on Thursday night stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s insistence that the old Naira notes of N500 and N1000 remain an illegal tender is an affront to public law in Nigeria.

Similarly, Ganduje alleged that the naira redesign policy of President Buhari is a deliberate attempt to truncate Nigeria’s democracy.

Reacting, Garba said in a video posted on his verified social media page: “I stand strongly behind President Buhari on this naira redesign policy. And I think it is very important for all of us to shun the antics of any negative energy or blame games or counter-productive activities that is [sic] dragging all our efforts away from our target of winning the 2023 election and producing Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in just eight days time.”

He added: “Why are we dragging? This is the president of the federal republic of Nigeria. And he has identified some of the problems that he has noticed and proffered solutions to them. And has even granted a relief by allowing N200 to be recycled into the economy.

“I don’t altogether accept the decision of His Excellency, Governor El Rufai, and Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano about confronting the president. This is wrong; not at this time. This is completely wrong.

“The best solution for us to do is, align with the government, align with the party, align with all the campaign structures, organise ourselves, and ready the team for winning this coming election in eight days.”
