Crisis: Wike chased Obi, Umahi, others out of PDP – Bwala

Daniel Bwala, a spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, on Wednesday said Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State was responsible for the exit of Peter Obi, Dave Umahi and other top politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Bwala said this while speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily programme.

“At a time there was an agitation from some elders in the South that power should be zoned to that region. And I recall Atiku Abubakar even had a conversation where he said if we are talking about zoning, then the two zones that should benefit is either the southeast or northeast. And that if it was zoned to the southeast, he was never going to run.

“Wike has always been saying he is not an Igbo. So because of that, if it was zoned to the southeast, he is shut out, he can’t run for president. And therefore, this idea of Peter Obi who has participated in 2019 as vice-presidential candidate, if it was zoned, he is going to emerge,” he said.

Bwala also claimed that aside from Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Wike “chased” Umahi, governor of Ebonyi State, and Ben Ayade, governor of Cross River State out of the PDP.
