
The governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf has announced the deployment of a task force team to ensure mass voter registration across the state.
Speaking at a briefing on Sunday, the governor said his administration is determined to make sure the state beats its contemporaries in the number of registered voters.
In a statement issued by Usman Bello, Director of Internal Affairs said the Task Force on Mobilisation for Voter Registration has been inaugurated to push the exercise.
On behalf Ibrahim Waya, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Bello said the task force team would be focused on sustaining the momentum to ensure eligible residents register to vote and subsequently obtain their Permanent Voters’ Card.
“I assure you of my total support in undertaking this critical assignment. Our resolve is to strengthen democracy by ensuring that no eligible citizen is left out of the process,” Yusuf said.
He added that the initiative is driven by the present administration’s effort to develop Kano State.
