Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Kaduna, Timothy Yahaya, has chided political leaders for failing to fix a government-owned refinery despite huge budgetary allocations for repairs and turnaround maintenance over the years.
Reacting to the recent commissioning of Dangote Refinery in Lagos, the Anglican cleric accused politicians of “playing politics” with the repairs of the refineries in the country.
The Bishop noted that Dangote has achieved what past governments have failed at since the return of democracy in Nigeria.
“Nigerian leaders should bury their heads in shame for failing to provide such huge functional economic value and benefits to the teaming population of the country over the years,” the religious leader said.
“Do you mean an individual can do what 200 million people cannot do? And today fuel has become politics in our country. The reality of what is happening in the oil sector can only be imagined. The rot and corruption in that sector, only God can deliver this country,” he added.
He urged the Bola Tinubu-led administration to revive the Ajaokuta Steel Rollings Mills adding that the project has the capacity to will lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.
The reverred religious leader identified boost in agriculture and human capital development as panacea to achieving the Nigeria of our dreams.
He advised the Tinubu led-administration to prioritize the issue of security and ensure unity among all ethnic groups in the country.
