Senator Jubrin Barau, the Deputy Senate President, assumed presided over the plenary in the absence of Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this is Barau’s first time leading the Red Chambers since the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly on June 13, 2023.
Accompanied by other principal officers, Barau entered the chamber, and the plenary commenced a few minutes after 11:00 am.
His assumption of leadership in the chamber was met with cheers from his colleagues, signalling their support.
It was learnt that Barau maintained a composed demeanour while overseeing the affairs of the plenary.
