Ahmed Wase, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Friday said no lawmaker has been converted to Islam since he and the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, were chosen to lead the green chamber.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that both Gbajabiamila and Wase are Muslims.
Wase spoke on their faith when members of a group, Asiwaju’s Pact with Citizens Campaign 2023 (APCC2023) visited him in Abuja.
He said that APC was on a good course with the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the party, and Kashim Shettima as his running mate (both Muslims).
“The Speaker and I are Muslims and I do not know how many of our members have been converted so far to other religions,” Wase said.
While critics have continued to condemn Tinubu for his choice of Shettima, the former Lagos State governor is still receiving support from certain quarters.
