The former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami on Friday, July 18, visited 104-year-old Mama Zainab who was late President Muhammadu Buhari’s nanny.

Pantami said he visited Mama Zainab who served as Buhari’s caregiver when he was born on December 17, 1942.

According to Pantami, in return, the late Buhari until his death cared for Mama Zainab.

He said the late Buhari during his time as Nigeria’s president relocated Mama Zainab to Abuja to stay with him.

Pantami wrote on X, “A heartfelt ta’aziyya to Mama Zainab (popularly known as Tamadina), who is estimated to be around 104 years old. She was the caregiver (like a nursing mother) of His Excellency, Baba Buhari, when he was born.

“Baba Buhari used to care so much about her. A few years ago, he brought her to stay with him in Abuja for a long period of time. He personally mentioned her story to me,” the former minister said.

Following their meeting, the former minister said Mama Zainab informed him that Buhari, even as a child, had always been truthful with much integrity.

“She commended Baba Buhari as someone with all the elements and ingredients of a pious and highly responsible person since his childhood. She said that even at the age of less than 10, he was very truthful, upright, credible, morally decent, and respected for elders, among many others.

“She compelled me to accept a gift – a copy of the Noble Qur’an and praying carpet.

“May Allah reward her immensely and admit Baba Buhari into Jannatul Firdaus together with our departed parents and loved ones,” Pantami wrote on X.
