Details have emerged following reports of the arrest of Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
The public crossdresser has been arrested by the Benin Republic Immigration Service at the Seme border during a passport check, POLITICS NIGERIA has learned.
An Immigration source confirmed the development, stating that Bobrisky was arrested at midnight and detained until morning. “He’s currently being moved to the Lagos zone of the NIS in Ikeja,” the source added.
It is understood that Bobrisky tried to leave Nigeria unnoticed when he was apprehended. “He gave his passport to someone to stamp it for him, but the officer recognized his name and asked him to step down from the vehicle,” the source revealed.
Bobrisky is currently embroiled in an investigation by the House of Representatives, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Nigerian Correctional Service over bribery allegations following a leaked audio recording by social media influencer Martins Ortse (VeryDarkMan).
Ortse alleged that Bobrisky paid EFCC officials N15 million to drop money laundering charges. Bobrisky has yet to admit to the allegations.
