Details of What Former UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair told Tinubu emerge

In the midst of preparations for his upcoming inauguration on May 29, Nigerian President-elect Bola Tinubu received a visit from Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that, taking to Twitter, Tinubu shared the details of their meeting.

He said, “I received former British Prime Minister and founder of the Tony Blair Institute for Good Governance, Mr Tony Blair, at the Defence House, Abuja, earlier today. We discussed areas of mutual interest and how Nigeria can continue to benefit from the amazing work of the Institute.”

Now, further information regarding their conversation has come to light.

During their meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, it was learnt that Blair expressed his willingness to support Tinubu’s incoming administration and ensure its success.

He stated that the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change would collaborate with Tinubu’s government to prioritise and achieve its goals.

Blair explained that his visit to Tinubu was motivated by the institute’s ongoing project in Nigeria, aiming to understand the incoming administration’s priorities better.

He assured Tinubu, saying, “We would like to help in any way with your administration. We only need to know what the leadership priorities are and help in how to actualise them.”

The former British Prime Minister commended Tinubu’s campaign for its focus on crucial areas such as security, the economy, agriculture, and power.

He expressed confidence that with investors’ growing interest in Nigeria, Tinubu’s administration could obtain the necessary support to drive economic development.

In response, Tinubu expressed his gratitude to Blair for the visit and his offer to collaborate with the incoming administration.
