Senator Dino Melaye has slammed Festus Keyamo (SAN) over his comment that he can drive from Abuja to Kaduna without security escorts.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Keyamo, the Labour and Employment minister and spokesperson of the Bola Tinubu campaign organisation had recently claimed that despite the security challenges, he can comfortably drive on the road without security aides.
But speaking in an interview on Trust TV’s Daily Politics on Wednesday, Senator Melaye, who is the spokesperson of the Atiku Abubakar campaign council, berated the lawyer, saying he is not being sincere with himself.
“I challenge Keyamo, to carry his car, and start his journey to Kaduna, Zuba. No police escorts and no convoy following him” the lawmaker said during the show.
“He should drive himself, even by 6 am, from Kaduna to Abuja. I challenge him to do it. Or drive from here to Delta where he comes from, without police escort, without any backup. Since he said the road is safe, let him drive and prove to Nigerians that the road is safe.”
The 155km Kaduna-Abuja highway is one of the most feared roads in Nigeria and has witnessed several attacks by bandits who block the road to kill and abduct passengers.
