A former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dipo Fasina, who was reported missing for some days, has been found in Turkey.
There were worrisome reports that the academic (aged 76) went missing during a trip to meet with the Algerian government.
Fasina was said to have missed his connecting flight from Istanbul, Turkey.
However, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) confirmed via Twitter on Sunday, July 9, that he had been found.
NIDCOM disclosed that it collaborated with the Nigerian High Commission in Turkey to locate Fasina.
The commission said in its tweet:
“A big thanks to the Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey who immediately sent officials to the airport to physically locate him in the very busy and huge Istanbul Airport.”
