DisCos speak on reason national grid collapsed again

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company(AEDC) has said that the power outage that happened on Thursday, September 14, was a result of a system failure from the national grid.

Via X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, the AEDC said the outrage “is a result of system failure from the national grid in the early hours of today 14 September.

However, the distribution company told its customers to “Be rest assured we are working with the relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is stabilised.”

Speaking on the development, the EKo Electricity Distribution Company said the outage occurred in the early hours of Thursday and led to a total loss of supply across its network.

It said: “We are in continuous communication with our partners at National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo. You will be updated as we get more information.”

On its part, Enugu Electricity Distribution Company said it experienced the outage around the same time.

In a statement by its head of corporate communications, Emeka Ezeh, EEDC said:

“The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a total system collapse which occurred at 12:40am today, 14th September,2023. This has resulted to the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network.

“Due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide service to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States.

“We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and
restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo.”
