A dismissed military officer, Lance Corporal Aliyu Adamu has landed in the custody of the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly defrauding three job applicants.
Spokesman of the command, SP Ahmed Wakili disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to SP Wakili, the suspect, who hails from Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, was nabbed for impersonation, cheating, criminal misappropriation, and criminal breach of trust.
The suspect was apprehended following complaints lodged by three victims who alleged that Adamu collected N200,000 from them, promising to secure employment for them in the Nigerian Army.
The police spokesman revealed that the victims never received any invitation to the Nigerian Army Depot for training against the promise despite paying the money.
After he was arrested, the suspect admitted that he had been dismissed from the Nigerian Army some months back for being absent without leave for a year.
The suspect said he used the money he made from the crime for personal expenses.
