Dollar to naira exchange rate: Oni slams Buhari govt

A former Governor of Ekiti, Segun Oni, who is eyeing the position of the No.1 citizen of the state says he is not impressed with the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Oni speaking in an interview published on Vanguard on Monday expressed his disappointment with the current naira-to-dollar exchange rate, which most Nigerians are displeased with.

According to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, the lives of Nigerians have been devalued to a quarter of what it was in 2014.

“The naira is exchanging for nearly N600 to a dollar now and less than eight years ago, it was about a quarter of that. So, if our currency has been devalued to a quarter of what it was eight years ago, it means our lives have been devalued,” Oni said.

“We must not deceive ourselves. This is about us; it is about our persons and future. They have devalued us. Can I be happy with that? Can I say that the government has done well? No, the government has not done well at all.”

Ekiti 2022 governorship election comes up in June.
