“Drop your ambition, support Tinubu in 2027” – Ex-Lagos lawmaker begs Peter Obi

Hon. Jude Idimogu, a former Lagos lawmaker, has appealed to Peter Obi, Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, to abandon his 2027 ambition and support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

Idimogu, who also serves as deputy leader of Ndigbo in Lagos APC, said Obi’s candidacy would split southern votes and hand the advantage to the north, undermining regional interests.

Citing how the north rallied around Muhammadu Buhari for two terms despite criticism, Idimogu said, “Tinubu deserves full support. He cannot undo Nigeria’s problems in two years. With unity, progress is possible.”

The APC chieftain dismissed the strength of opposition parties, saying neither the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nor the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has a candidate capable of defeating Tinubu in 2027.

He urged Obi and other Igbo leaders to prioritise the South’s continued hold on power and appealed to northern politicians to support Tinubu in the spirit of fairness and national stability.
