Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) would meet with the national leader of the party, Senator Bola Tinubu, and other leaders to discuss how the party’s governorship candidate in Edo state, Mr. Osagie Ize-Iyamu, will win the election.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the meeting which will be convened soon is to plan how the party will defeat the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 19 governorship election.
According to a governor, the expected meeting is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive immediately after the last National Executive Committee meeting of the party held recently in Abuja.
“At our National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the Villa recently, we ratified the candidature of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu – based on President Muhammadu Buhari’s recommendation. And the president also directed that we should mobilise all the party’s organs and ensure we deliver Edo State for APC.
“And in line with that, we are consulting all the APC governors, party’s leaders, especially our national leader, Bola Tinubu, and other party’s stakeholders on the need for us to meet very soon. Already, the campaign council has been constituted and members will be inaugurated this week,’’ the governor stated.
The governor told THIS DAY that the party has nothing to worry about and has the support of the Edo people because of the popularity of the party’s candidate.
“Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is a grassroots politician. He is at home with the politics of the state. As the leader of the opposition in Edo State in the last two general elections, he made things very difficult for us. Now, we are happy he has come back home. And with our full support, he will deliver Edo State to APC,’’ the governor stated.
This newspaper reports that the party had appointed Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to chair the Party’s high-level National Campaign Council for the Edo State Governorship Election.
The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma will serve as Deputy Chairman and Hon. Abbas Braimoh as Secretary of the 49-member APC National Campaign Council.
This is a pure lie, if they are angry that the Gorvernor left the party, then was it not Oshiomhole that pushed him to PDP?
I WOULD BE MEARNT TO BELIEVE THAT IT MUST BE THA-OSE GOVERNORS LOYAL TO OSHIOMHOLE AND TINUBU. THE ONLY OPTION THEY ARE LOOKING FOR IS JUST FOR THE PRESIDENT T O GRANT ACCESS TO THEM TO USE THE ARMY AND POLICE FOR THE ELECTION. BUT I BELIEVE THE PRESIDENT WOULD NOT AGREE TO THIS. BECAUSE IT IS PURELY MAN INHUMANITY TO MAN. POSTERITY IS THERE TO JUDGE EVERYBODY. APART FROM USING ARMY OR POLICE, THERE IS NO WAY OSHIOMHOLE WOULD WIN THE EDO ELECTION…………….LET ME SEE IF THE PRESIDENT WOULD YEARN TO THAT. ……….. IT IS UNFORTUNATE.

And what’s special or strange about that? Where were you when PDP were riding roughshod over all democratic institutions during the time of Obasanjo especially? So the PDP did not use the armed forces to win election? Ever heard of the Sergeant Sagir Confessions and the Ekiti election? Be Sonu, you two-faced hypocrite.
