Former Governor of Edo State and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has commented on the recent disqualification of his successor, Godwin Obaseki from the party’s upcoming Gubernatorial Primaries.
Oshiomole and Obaseki have been at loggerheads for a while now with the former refusing to support/endorse the second term ambition of the latter. Speaking in a recent interview on Channels Television, Oshiomole stated that the party was only following its constitution by disqualifying Obaseki.
“I can’t comment on it now. All I said is what I can say, namely that we are just following our party constitution. We have a screening committee that tendered the report and the report is subject to the appeal committee for anyone who chooses to appeal against the findings of the screening committee.”
“The purpose of the screening is basically to say that nothing is taken for granted and until they go through the appeal process, I as the national chairman cannot comment on it”.
However, when pressed further, Oshiomhole had this to say;
“if all you have to offer is money to procure peoples conscience then you need tonnes of it. I wouldn’t have Governor of Edo state, I wouldn’t have been elected at the time I was elected in 2007 and defeated the almighty PDP at the peak of its power and control both in Abuja and in Edo state if it was about the highest bidder” he said.
