BREAKING: PDP to screen Obaseki today ahead of Guber Primaries

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state will be screened today by the screening committee for the state governorship primaries.

Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd), the PDP National Organising Secretary, made this known in a statement on Friday evening in Abuja.

He noted that the screening would continue at the National Working Committee Hall of the Party Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja from 10a.m. prompt.

He said that the screening panel had on June 5 interviewed and screened other governorship aspirants of the party.

Akobundu said the committee is mandated to screen all aspirants for the upcoming 2020 governorship election in Edo.

He listed the members of the screening committee to include, Mr Kingsley Chinda as Chairman, Boyele Debekeme as Secretary, Chief Oladimeji Fabiyi, Senator Mrs Joy Emordi and Hajiya Aishat Hasindu as members.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Obaseki formally joined the PDP in Benin on Friday after resigning his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He also obtained the membership card of the PDP at the party state secretariat.

The governor then proceeded to obtain the PDP Governorship Nomination Forms in Abuja after securing a waiver from the PDP NWC in order to participate in primaries and contest the gubernatorial elections in September.
