“Travesty Of Justice”, Kanu’s lawyer reacts after Wednesday’s hearing

Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nigerian Biafra political activist, Nnamdi Kanu, and the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Wednesday described as “travesty of Justice” events at Wednesday’s trial of his client.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday morning adjourned till January 19, 2022, the trial of the detained Nigerian separatist leader. Kanu is being prosecuted for treason and other offences by Nigerian authorities.

There had been confusion as Kanu’s team of lawyers, including Ejimakor and Ifeanyi Ejiofor, staged a walk-out to protest the refusal of operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) to allow some of their colleagues to gain access into the courtroom.

Kanu, who was brought into the courtroom around 9.52am, had shortly after his case was called up expressed his displeasure with the refusal of security agents to allow some members of his legal team in, especially his lawyer from the USA, Bruce Fein.

Like Kanu, Ejimakor is displeased.

“I’m not happy. The world should not be happy. The Judge LOCKED out Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyers & refused us entry into the courtroom. She then arbitrarily adjourned the case to January 19, 2022. This is a travesty of justice. We will surely take urgent & decisive measures,” Ejimakor wrote on his known Twitter handle.
