One of the aides to the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has said that the latest results of the Edo governorship election have shown that the All Progressives Congress (APC) needs “some soul searching for survival”
Salihu Tanko Yakasai, the media aide to the governor, made this known in a tweet on his Twitter page on Sunday morning. He also admitted that the APC has lost the Edo governorship election.
Reacting to Governor Godwin Obaseki’s lead in the official results posted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Yakasai said the defeat provides important lessons to APC as a party.
He wrote: “The outcome of #EdoElection has some important lessons for APC as a party, not just in Edo but equally at the center.
“But most importantly, the outcome has some insights into the future of the party as well. Let’s look inwards and outwards and do some soul searching for our survival,” Yakasai wrote.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the results of 13 local governments have already been announced by INEC with Obaseki clinching 11, while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, won 2.
A quick summation of the votes awarded to Obaseki in 13 local governments stood at 243,604, while Ize-Iyamu’s was 154,192.
