Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were seen jubilating in the Situation Room in Benin as its governorship candidate in the Edo State Election, Godwin Obaseki, maintains the lead.
In a video that surfaced online on Sunday, the PDP members were dancing and singing after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the results of 13 local governments with Obaseki clinching 11.
According to the video, some of the PDP officials in the situation room were joyful, while others were seen shouting “4=4” and “4+4”. The video also showed the officials, including Obaseki, clapping as results trickled in.
Results for five local governments are being awaited. A quick summation of the votes awarded to Obaseki in 13 local governments stood at 243,604, while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s was 154,192.
