“Edo deputy governor inciting violence ahead of governorship election” – Group raises alarm

The embattled deputy governor of Edo State, Comrade Phillip Shuaibu, has been accused of inciting violence in the state ahead of the governorship election scheduled for September 21.

The allegation was made by a prominent civil group in the state Edolites For Peace and Progress, a prominent civil group led by Madam Adesua Odigie.

The group, in a statement signed by its convener, said: “We know that Phillip does not have any electoral value but we have it on good authority that the APC needs him to cause violence during the elections.

“Their plan is to use his convoy and his immunity to carry arms and ammunition around. They plan to use him to distribute guns to their boys in the Akoko Edo and Owan axis. After which, we will do away with him.”

Odigie warned: “We, the members of Edolites For Peace and Progress, strongly condemn such malicious and violent intentions. We urge the people of Edo State to be vigilant and cautious of Phillip Shuaibu’s actions.

“His alignment with those who seek to disrupt the peace and stability of our state is deeply concerning.”

Madam Odigie reiterated the importance of safeguarding the electoral process and ensuring that elections are conducted peacefully.

“The future of Edo State lies in the hands of its peace-loving citizens, and we must protect it against those who wish to exploit and harm it for their selfish gains,” she stated.
