Edo election results will be uploaded to iReV if there are no network issues – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured voters that the results from the Edo State governorship election would be uploaded on the commission’s iREV dashboard.

Speaking on Arise TV, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo State, Anugbum Onuoha, said the only challenge the commission could face with uploading results would be network issues.

Answering a question to confirm that the results of the Edo election would be uploaded on the iREV, Onuoha said, “Yes, unless there’s no network in that place.”

He added that all election results will be transmitted electronically and the BVAS will accredit voters to know the total number of voters at each polling unit.

He said, “We will conduct an election we can truly call our own.”

He also noted that the operators of the BVAS have been efficiently trained and that the commission has deployed 4,622 BVAS across the 4,519 polling units in the 18 local government areas in the state.

According to Onuoha, there are also 660 BVAS as a backup for this particular election in Edo state.

He added, “The idea is they will vote, BVAS is to accredit the total number of voters that who would vote at the polling units, then after that the voters will then start voting.

“At the end of the day, they will count the results and they will be uploaded to our iREV. That is the stage that we are in,” Onuoha said.
