Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki failed to deliver his local government, Oredo Local Government Area, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state off-cycle governorship election.
He lost the LGA to the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Sunday evening.
In the results declared by INEC in Benin City, the state capital, the APC polled a total of 30,780 votes while the PDP scored 24,938 votes.
Labour Party polled 5,389 votes.
Asue Ighodalo is the candidate of the PDP and Obaseki’s anointed candidate at the poll, while Senator Monday Okpebholo is the candidate of the APC and Olumide Akpata is the candidate of the LP.
