Eid-el-Maulud: Atiku mentions two ‘crucial elements needed’ to heal Nigeria

A former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar says peace and love are “the two crucial elements needed to heal our land of strife and division”.

Atiku said this via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday when he made a post to celebrate the Muslim Eid-el-Maulud.

“As Muslims, let us on this Eid-ul-Mawlud, a day set aside for the celebration of the birth of Prophet Mohammed (SAW), exhibit true love to one another and the rest of Nigerians. Love and peace are central to the message of the Holy Prophet. #EidElMaulud.

“By practising the teachings of our Prophet, we naturally become agents of peace and love – the two crucial elements needed to heal our land of strife and division,” Atiku said.

Maulud is the celebration of the birthday of the Islamic prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) which is commemorated in Rabi’ al-Awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar. 12th Rabi’ al-Awwal is the accepted date among most of the Sunni and Shia scholars, while few Shia scholars regard 17th Rabi’ al-Awwal as the accepted date.
