Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai met with the governors of Kano, Zamfara, and Katsina states, Abba Yusuf, Dr. Dauda Lawal, Dr. Dikko Radda, respectively as well as other Northern leaders on Wednesday at the Arewa Tech Fest in Kano.
The event brought together political and technology leaders to discuss advancements in the region.
During the gathering, El-Rufai expressed his deep appreciation for the reinstatement of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano, describing it as one of the most significant moments of his life.
“The reinstatement of His Highness is one of the most important events in my life, and I want to congratulate you once again,” El-Rufai stated.
“This reinstatement marks a moment of vindication and renewal for Northern Nigeria’s traditional leadership,” he added.
Sanusi’s return to the throne was made possible after the amendment of the law that led to his deposition in 2019. The law was amended by the Kano State government led by Governor Yusuf to create five new emirates, ultimately resulting in Sanusi’s removal.
El-Rufai has been a vocal supporter of Sanusi and had previously visited him in Nasarawa State after his dethronement and subsequent banishment from Kano State by the Abdullahi Ganduje-led government then.
